Description:
The tax rate for the en_us version has the name "vat id:" We don't call it that. We call it "Tax rate" And there are several. City, state, county, other ( special taxes that I've rarely seen ) with the "total" tax rate being the sum of these values, which as you can tell can vary from city to city. Also, there is a "USE tax" being commonly implemented now that is additional. These all get sent to different places and have to be reported differently. In the states we commoonly call this entire group by the name "Sales Tax" but thats a generalization. You don't see the individual rates on your reciept just the singular "sales tax" rate. It would be very nice if the label could be changed and if the individual taxes could be listed so that they can be tracked.

Soeren, I just recieved an email from the state regarding the sales tax issue. I found out that not only do we have to pay attention to where the shipment is going but we even have to pay attention to what county :(
We have to tell them each quarter what sales went to what county and also we have to keep track if we are using something that was bought from another state. That would be a "use tax" and that is 5%.
Its becoming as bad as state/federal taxes *sigh*

Hope this helps you. I added an image showing the tax rate for our area. As you can see it has 3 different listings just for our tiny zipcode which barely covers 2000 people! In mine and Michelles instance we fit the top box, so we have to keep track of 4 major taxes.
5% state
1% school option
1% city ( murray )
5% USE
Then we have to track as I said above how much of that total goes to each county.
The basic state rate is 5% and if a "sales" tax is paid then the use tax is waived and visa versa.
ciao'
